The 31st Annual Dartathon will be held at the Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans Unit on View Street on March 28/29 and 30th. During this time there is 50 hours of darts played, ie all the boards will be going continuosly. Players are needed for the full 50 hours, or any portion of, in order to keep the boards going. If you can spare a few hours or a day please sign up. Anyone can get a pledge sheet and that does not mean that you have to play the full time. What the sheets are, are mainly donations for those playing. A team can even pledge monies from their team funds. All donations greatly accepted. The format is as follows: On Friday the 28th at noon the first darts are thrown to start us off. The play continues non stop until Sunday the 30th when the last dart is thrown. We are fed by the Saanich Lion/Lioness Club with the cost of meals for the weekend being $15.00. There are showers available at YMCA for our use on Saturday and Sunday mornings (donated by the Y), and guaranteed penny rolling in the wee hours of the night/morning. We are also in need of donations that can be used in our silent auction or our live (fun) auction, so if you know of any business that may want to donate, we can give you a letter for them for their records. Also, all sponsors will be listed on our donor board so they can receive recognition. All of this is strictly volunteer so all the monies raised go directly to the Lions Society Of BC to be used either at Easter Seal House in Victoria, or at Camp Shawnigan. We are proud to say that over the past 30 years, we have raised nearly $300,000.00 and that we are the only group that has had 100% of the monies pledged collected and given to the Lions. I think that only about 4 years we have not collected the full amounts that have been pledged and that was only by a few hundred dollars.
